The Paradise: Sikkim

The Paradise Valley : Sikkim

Now days it is a bit more difficult to find a calm and a quiet peaceful place , where you can sit for hours , where you can smell the wet ground , and the sun dried grass . where there is no one to disturb you  from your solace , whether it is listening  to your playlist or to the making of your own . a calm haven , to read and write and for many of your hobbies . and I guess , mountain regions are the best for something like this , you had been whining for ages ! One of them is Sikkim , Nya-Mae-El , it means paradise . the lepcha word for Sikkim and indeed it is true .Sikkim is widely known for its valleys and wildlife . in this blog I be writing about the flora and fauna , that is found there . the most precious one is the  "The Noble Orchid" .

orchids always holds a special as one of the most alluring and captivating flowers , they are mostly known as to symbolize luxury , love , and beauty . their charm delight those who receive them . and Sikkim is known as a paradise valley for orchids in India .
the scientific name for noble orchid is dendrobium Nobile , it is  the state flower of Sikkim . mainly belongs to the family of orchidaceous . it has become popular as a decorative house plant , because it produces colorful blooms in winter and spring at a time when little else is in flower . it is also one of the 50 fundamental herbs used in traditional Chinese medicines ( shi hu) .
dendrobium Nobile is the one of the most widespread ornamental members of the orchid family .
There are many species of orchids found in the world but , the noble orchids of Sikkim are most famous because of their medicinal folklore . they are considered as the treasure of the Sikkim Himalayas ."orchids are something that are not prepared by any engineer it is just rigged out from the earth with all the components it was left with , and the morning dreams shows that orchids are the most beautiful, a human can inherit  "more beautiful than seven deadly sins of the hell."
_____________________________
many bloggers earlier have found the folklore around the villages of Sikkim , and talk about the medicinal role of noble orchids , in their time .  their aim was to access the traditional medicinal uses of orchid species , contacts were made with the native people of the villages , particularly with the traditional healers and nursery growers . and according to the information gathered by them it was found that  the roots of this flower was used to treat wounds  , cuts , cramps , rheumatism , vertigo , infantile epilepsy ,kidney stone , malarial fever , menstrual troubles , asthma and T.B. the root decoction soothes the pain of arthritis and menstruation , while leaf juice treats gastric troubles , acidity ,earache and other problems .
though there are many ways , to prepare this medicine but the most prevailing one is the traditional ones .   the steps are here ;
1-prepare a paste of orchid roots with retusa roots and mix it with the fresh leaf buds of pisum sativum and add water . it is usually consumed orally .

The orchids habitation found in Sikkim is divided into zones in accordance with the prevailing climate in these zones , the other famous breeds found here are - callicarpa , acamperigida , cymbidium aloiflolium etc. among many others .

stay tuned for other updates of this blog , of Sikkim .
